Call for applications to the Garth Homer Foundation

Three volunteer Director positions are available for the 2025-2028 term. We are searching for visionary leaders with deep expertise in finance, law and strategic growth to help steward a sustainable $20 million funding model benefitting adults with diverse abilities.

Thanks to a transformative $34 million legacy gift—one of Canada’s largest in inclusive community care—we are scaling housing, assistive-technology and independent-living solutions that will impact Vancouver Island for generations.

Our Cause

The Garth Homer Foundation funds the Garth Homer Society, working toward a society where people with diverse abilities have freedom of choice and can unleash their full potential.

Attributes we value

  • Passion for improving opportunities for adults with physical or mental challenges
  • Governance / advocacy experience that inspires community confidence
  • Active participation in Board & committee work and willingness to serve as an ambassador
  • Ability to build connections across a vibrant stakeholder landscape
  • Resident of British Columbia and 21 years of age or older

Time Commitment

Approximately 4–6 hours per month, including bi-monthly 2-hour meetings (Zoom or in-person) and committee participation.

Selection Process

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.

Short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview with our Nominations Committee.

Closing Date

Applications remain open until the Board positions are filled.
